first question why would u be doing that but anyways if you happen to download one it will screw your computer up. Even if you clciked on a site with a virus it would still mess it up. Donwloading one would be the worst thing. i would definetly not advise doing so

I couldn't.

I wouldn't try it as I couldn't garuntee the computer doesn't store the file in temporary memory whilst transfering it to the disk. And I wouldn't be able to check that it had definitey been deleted.

It is not safe - unless you can quarentine a folder before you download the virus.

Sure, theoretically you can download it fine. Something has to execute viral code (or in rare cases use an infected file if the software that uses it has a bug).

The question is very general though, it depends on how you're downloading it, and what your receiving software is doing with it.
