I have a daughter who just turned 2 the end of july. She has been on and off of this potty training thing since she was 18 months old. she was going really well and then she took a complete turn around! And now we are having to start from scratch, and it seems more difficult this time. My son, however, who will be 4 in December, was potty trained by 2 1/2. And I thought that it was wierd since i have been told that boys are harder to potty train. Please Help!! She went into the bathroom this morning all by herself..took her diaper off, threw it away and went and got on the big potty and poopied in it! so i took the diapers away and now she is only wearing panties, PLEASE HELP! IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE HARDER?? signed....mother in distress, Cortney(Indianapolis,IN)

I have a very similar problem with my daughter who is 3 and I have been taking her to the potty every hour and a half even if she declares loudly that she doesn't need to go(she usually does) and lately she has been gettting into this routine and will go by herself or with little prompting. I am still using diapers at night and need advice on how to get her to go to the potty at night you can email me at shelly75@winstream.net if you have any advice on the nightime problem I am having.

Cortney its a generalization to say that boys bathroom train faster than girls my daughters were both trained by 2 and a half but my sisters boy was a little slower just keep up the praise its the most important thing in training go over the top and hug and kiss her tell her how proud you are of her and that she is such a big clever girl , but don't get caught in the reward system of a little a something if she goes potty because if your not there to reward her she will drop off and its back to the nappies again . don't fret Cortney we all get it right in the end . and your little angel will as well

i have a 3 yr old son and he has just got used to the going to the potty thing. he'll go #1 for me all by himself but when it comes to #2 he never tells me, i usually have to catch him when he's getting quiet and sit him on the potty. As for night time I used to put pull-ups on him every night and then we started to notice that after a while he would wake up in the morning and his pull-ups would be dry, thats when we switched to underwear at night. Keep in mind that every kid is different.

good girl, now try to keep the diapers OFF of her bum, and she'll realize that she likes being a big girl. it'll take time, but she'll get it right...

i also think that 18 months is a bit early, that's the age when they just do things to please you, they don't realize what they're actually doing. but now that she's older, she should start to realize what it is you want from her. and don't forget to REWARD when she does go potty, and DON'T PUNISH her for accidents.
and try pullups for bedtime, just in case...

going back and forht from diapers to panties is a no no in my book. through out the diapers and i may take a while back she should catch on. once she knows there are no more diapers she will soon get the answer.
