Yeah I think so. In Europe at least. Until the invention of the crossbow/gunpowder allowed lightly armoured peasents to shoot through their armor.

Yes pretty much...though they started declining way before AD1600, asides from armour-piercing arrows and guns, pikes helped deal them in especially as most knights were cavalry at that time.

Knight had the money to buy good equipment and supplies.
To get proper training and the right to muster a army.
rich guy / knight VS poor peasant / foot solder what one would you pick to fight for you.
