For this to happen all of a sudden and turn purple is a little odd, but you really should think about going to a doctor, you need to get blood flow back to that portion of the finger, gentle massage and soaking of the hand while you are making the doctors appointment should bring you small relief.

The purple color has significance.. either you have bruised (injured( your finger or may have to consider Reynaud's disease. It usually does not involve the motor nerve to the digit but, it does involve the peripheral blood vessels of the extremities..
