It should not go bad unless you leave it open then alcohol evaporates and it will taste bad. A way to keep it for a long time is put it in the fridge.

"Triple sec is a strong, clear orange-flavored liqueur. It is sweet, but not cloying.

In addition to the generic brand Triple Sec, Curaçao, Cointreau, and Grand Marnier are also triple secs.

While triple sec usually would mean "triple dry", it here means "triple distilled".

One generic brand is De Kuyper Triple Sec (image of bottle to the left)."

Here are some recipes to make some of the best margaritas:

Millionaire Margarita
Casa Noble Margarita
2 oz. Casa Noble Gold
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
Shaken over ice
Billionaire Margarita
Casa Noble Margarita
2 oz. Casa Noble Reposado
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
Shaken over ice
AAA Margarita
2 oz. Casa Noble Crystal
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
Shaken over ice

Triple sec can go bad if it has been opened. it is obvious if it's bad by smell and taste. The alcohol part never can go bad, it's the other parts that do. This only occurs after 5 plus years, so you should be fine. straight vodka, gin, rum, whiskey etc. will never go bad.

Cointreau is the original French orange "triple sec" liqueur. The best of the domestic stuff is Hiram Walker...Dukuyper isn't bad. As the previous answer noted.......you really don't need the sweetness, the jello is sweet enough. However..flavored vodkas and rums are great in Jello shots.

Distilled spirits do not "go bad" as in spoil quickly. I have a bottle of bourbon I inherited from my dad more than a decade ago, and am working my way through it a few tablespoons a year (holiday recipe for yams). It has yet to go bad.
