Just a little traumatized by the change in her life, and maybe insecure too. Just give her lots of love and attention, and have the vet give her a checkup just in case. She's a tiny dog, so half a cup of food a couple of times a day should be enough, go by how much she eats.

My 2 year old chihuahua stays right under my feet the entire time I'm up, and in my lap the entire time I'm down. She's not sick, chihuahuas are just calm and timid dogs. They like to be treated like babies. I feed my dog a pack of wet food and i leave dry down all the time, so she can eat when shes hungry.

Carlene;
We got our chihuahua at one year old.He was neutered at two so as to stay at home.He sleeeep's all the time also&would be on my lap if I let him,as I did when we first got him.don't overfeed as I have.8lbs.now .I feed him IAMS small chuncks because he did not like nor eat others.He had to have the bottom small teeth removed {bad breath] so make sure he has chewing things.He is 11 now and healthy.He covers him self up with his blanket on the couch& has almost been sat on a dozen times.He nips at peoples heels if he doesn't like them around.Not as bad now at this .Maybe you like him on your lapbut cujo sits beside me now after some time.. Anyway your dog is not sick with her actions.My cujo would almost die if she could not find me.Maybe she misses her other owner.Be sure to talk to her a lot.take her in the car with you when possible . GoodLuck and let me know how it'sgoing. kell65

Chihuahua's need alot of attention. They are like having a baby in the house. Put food and water on the floor and let him eat what he wants and ours always liked a pillow with a pillow case on it so it can crawl inside the case and sleep. It makes them feel safe.

If you just adopted the dog and know nothing about it, i would take it to the vet just to have her all checked out and to learn about the breed. Some dogs are just like that, but you never know.

Well, my 16 pound mixed breed eats 2 pedigree pouches a day, plus about that same amount in snacks and kibble.
She may be sticking with you because she feels insecure, or because that is what she was used to before.

go to the nearest vet asap. ask if there is something wrong with it and tips on feeding and training.
(i would put her in your lap, so she doesn't run away easily)
DONT feed human food to dogs.
it makes them sick and it is VERY un healthy.
