Are you referring to physically being able to drive or legally? There was a report of a 4 year old crashing a car after successfully driving to a video rental store. If you are referring to legally, that depends upon several factors including but not limited to location, education, skill, money, availability of a vehicle, and possibly parental permission. You should be able to meet most of these by 16. Some states have farm permits allowing 14 year olds to drive. In some cases, farm vehicles can be driven for farm work without a license.

Most states require that you be at least 16 before you can be tested to get your license...others require you to be 18!
Check with your local DMV and pick a Driver's Hand Book...it will give you all the information you are looking for.

I thought you start getting a driver's license at 15 1/2. I think you can actually drive at 16. Not sure though.

Most states have graduated licensing at 16 or 17 ... unrestricted licenses range from 18 to 21.
