I didn't say that I hated Christian music. Of course there's a lot of Christian music I like-- Mercy Me, Matthew West, Chris Tomlin, Fred Hammond, the list goes on. I'm saying the really crappy Christian music that doesn't really impact you, but you just feel like-- yikes, if I walk away, am I being Christian?

Something like.. when a Jehovah's witness gives you a pamphlet, can you throw it the garbage can without feeling guilty? :)

As for the Jehovah's Witness part, I feel no guilt when I throw their "track" in the garbage.
As for the enjoying Christian music. I don't feel obligated to like it. I do enjoy it. And, I guess I've lived long enough, and recently enough lived with a teenager, that I truly enjoy most all of it. The stuff you find in old hymnals, gospel, contemporary, alternative (and I mean some of the eardrum splitting stuff like TFK, and that genre). Depends on my mood. I'm not saying I like all Christian music - It's like I like mystery movies, but there are some I don't like.
And, if it's getting air time, or being sung in church - somebody out there likes it, and just maybe that song, at that particular moment, opens someones heart to the Lord.
BTW - If you live in the central Ohio or some other areas - there is an AWESOME radio station - It's RadioU (88.7FM locally) and you can listen on line at RadioU.com --------yes, and that's the kind of music my son listened to - and some of the concerts I took him to. God bless them, they reach an audience that tradional approaches miss.

I do enjoy it but I cannot fathom a situation where I would be 'forced' to listen to it. One can always walk away. I prefer to frequent a local Pizza place because all that they play is Christian and therefore clean music.I am however offended by vulgar music but I do just walk away. Yes if someone gives me literature and I do not have the chance to say "No thank you" I do throw it away. There is some Christian music I do not like and I will either walk away or just wait it out. Depending on the circumstances.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

Jehovah's Witnesses produce and distribute printed literature for those who are interested. It is disrespectful and wasteful to accept literature which one has no intention of reading.

There is a wide range of articles on the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses. At present, there are over 400 articles, some of which are listed here:

Of course not, but with that said, not all Christian music is that bad.

I find the one thing about Christian music is the lyrics are more pivotal to the success of the song - sappy, preachy lyrics have turned many Christian songs into musical train-wrecks.

For years there has been much debating in the church over christian music. What makes it "Christian"? Just because we use christian words does not make the music right.Music should be in harmony with the nature of God, not sensual, not fabricating emotions to make you feel good, not using confusing tones in dissonance, not blasting and destructive to the eardrums, etc. Music should point out God's character.

I listen to nothing but contemporary Christian music in my home and car. I love it! Casting Crowns, FFH, Jeremy Camp, and Mercy Me are my favorites. I'm actually annoyed when I have to put up with other types of music.

As a Christian, a resounding...HECK NO! Sadly, I find Christian music greatly lacking. I listen to very little of it voluntarily, anymore.

No, if I don't like something I don't like it. Simple as that. Though there is some good christian music. Unfortunately it's a very small amount.

I love Christian contemporary music / lyrics. Musicians like Third Day, Mercy Me and Casting Crowns (just to name a few) are gifted and talented. They have chosen to use their gifts and talents for God / Jesus. . .they are blessed and they bless many.

I don't feel any obligation to enjoy Christian lyrics...I love it without obligation!

No, but maybe you should listen to the words and find the true meaning of the song, even if you dont like the way it sounds.
