Maybe your answer isn't drugs. A simple thing to check is if you are getting 6-8 hours of sleep each day. But it may also go back to nutrition. Drugs should be a last resort. Think about it, how do you develop a deficiency for a drug that is not natural to your body? Fish oil contains EPA and DHA essential fatty acids and have been shown to help the brain. But really, you may want to look at the whole approach. If you aren't eating as you should, then you should expect some repercussions. Eat whole foods, not processed, fresh is better than cooked or otherwise preserved.

Ritalin is a prescription medication used to treat ADHD. It's not intended to be used to improve your performance unless you actually have ADHD or ADD, which would be diagnosed by a doctor. It's also popular among college students as a way to enhance their academic performance, but this use is almost invariably illegal. Because of it's popularity as a "study drug," Ritalin is a controlled substance, meaning that it's even harder to get than most non-narcotic prescription drugs. Prescriptions for Ritalin are for 30 days and are non-refillable, so people taking the drug to treat ADHD have to see their doctor at least once a month for a new prescription. The main reason those restrictions exist is, quite bluntly, so people like you can't get their hands on it. So the bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend you try it.
Besides being a controlled substance, Ritalin is also a stimulant and an appetite suppressant. That means that if you're taking a higher dose than is needed, you won't eat and you won't sleep. That's a bad thing.
The active ingredient in Ritalin is a derivative of caffeinee. So go for caffein pills (like No Doze) instead. Those will help improve your focus as well, although they're not nearly as strong as Ritalin.

1. you need a scrip for ritalin.
2. consult a dr. to be sure that is the drug (if you need a drug) that would work best for you and your circumstances.
3. ask about concerta, strattera, etc.
4. do some research on the web.
5. be aware of the possible side effects. they're different for every person that takes them. know that some side effects may be worse than your lack of focus.
good luck.

ritalin is prescibed to people with add/adhd, if you feel you have a problem with your health concerning this, then you should see a doctor, they can test you to see if you are in need. and yes, you do need a prescription for this drug. also, to "emily rose"...people on ritalin do not need to see the doctor once a month, they get the re-newal via the pharmacy, the doctor will fax over a requisition for a re-fill

Please check with a doctor before taking any medications.
If you take it just to study you will then probably need a downer to get yourself to sleep. Don't start managing your own drugs.
If you are truely ADD then you definatly need a doctor to help you with your concentration problems.
