Well, a GED is the equivalent of a high school diploma. So in that respect...no. However if you are going through a situation to where you have to take a break from school, you can get your GED and return later to get your high school diploma. People do it in college too. I have a buddy who got a certificate in one thing and later went back to college and got a degree in Radiologic Technology (just one step from the certificate he earned). Just do what you think is best for you. Good luck to you no matter what you choose and how you do it.

First a GED is somewhat like full diploma but not exactly the same. The only real difference is how employers and four year colleges look at it. It is possible to make a good living and be successful (not like a rock star, but like a doctor) with a GED.

That said the odds are against it. The GED was meant as an option for student who could not academically achieve a diploma. They will allow you to not go to school anymore, but I don't think that will solve the issue. If you are not in school what are you going to do? If you are motivated and are going to start college then cool. Otherwise what would be the point. Any job you can get with a GED will max out in terms of salary in less than 10years.

The only way around the ceiling used to be the military but they don't take GEDs anymore.

I think you should stay in school, but try an alternative or charter school with a shortned day or voc-ed program so that school is not so boring or uninteresting.

If you take the GED test and you pass it then technically you are saying you want to drop out of school, by pass getting your deploma and you are settling for the GED instead. You will not have to stay in school but your parents will have to sign saying they are allowing you to take the GED instead of attend school. I think you should wait and graduate it would be a lot easier and the better choice in the end. <<< Not a smart remark just an opinion of what at this point I think would be smarter! Good Luck!

No although I think in some states you will have to get a fulltime job. Here in PA you're allowed to drop out without a job at age 17. I did and it was for the better. I learned far on my own than I ever did through formal education.

Unless it's an ultra high security firm most employers don't really check one way or another whether you got a diploma or GED. High schools and colleges are also legally not allowed to divulge such information.

No you don't still have to stay in school if you pass your GED. This is a diploma. You will however have to drop out of school in order to qualify to take the GED. Good Luck!! Conventional schooling is not always right for every one!!

You could drop out of school at 16 with your parents permission. At 18 on your own. Then you would be eligible for GED classes. But it is NOT an easy test and you should not look at it as an easy way out. Go to school, get an education!

i'm no longer particular state colleges help you to in with a GED. Your ACT score isn't that great, yet its truly in accordance to what maximum state universities settle for thus thats no longer the area. the traditional route in the event you go away early and get a GED is to bypass to a community college for a 365 days or 2 then move to a school. you may want to nevertheless be ahead, yet actual community college is truly a drag. in case you imagine severe college appeared straightforward and remedial you'd be desiring to shoot your self contained in the face once you get to community college. Its like severe college MINUS many of the smart little ones reason they went instantly to a school. PLUS you've a set of older scholars coming back so its basically... properly, shall we basically say maximum cc's practice in route of the bottom difficulty-loose denominator. besides the undeniable fact that, there is yet in a distinct way in case you truly are as smart as your IQ score. i'm no longer particular the way it truly works, yet i know "proficient" scholars can end severe college early and get carry of an actual degree, no longer a GED. don't know the way it truly works, don't know if each state has something like it or if its on a really selective human being foundation, or if its as a lot because the faculty district, yet i know like some little ones at my severe college graduated at like 14 or 15 after surely a million or 2 years there. They for sure did not initiate out with freshman practise in spite of the reality that, they examined out of like each thing besides the undeniable fact that the senior aspect practise and did that before even starting up severe college, so even as they got here they were in calculus and AP english and stuff as 13 365 days previous freshman. So in accordance with that commentary, you may no longer qualify for that in case you weren't "quickly-tracked" from the get-bypass. they could say you basically might want to get the GED and thats it.

no, u wont have to go to school. but your parents have to sign some papers, then they have to make sure that u get your GED soon, or they will make you go back to school. it could get your parents in trouble if they don't help you get your GED. you have to be working on your GED if you don't want to go back to school. ged's are not as good as a diploma, but you must have a good reason to not want to go to school. my whole family did the same thing except for me. don't let anyone stress u out to much about not going to school. it is your choice. so good luck.

A GED is like graduating, so , no you won't have to continue in school. Most states have a law that anyone reaching 16 can leave school anyway.
