Passports for US citizens are not required until Jan 1/07. You need a birth cerificate and photo ID.

If you're an American citizen cruising to the Bahamas or the Caribbean, you'll need proof of citizenship in the form of a passport, a birth certificate or copy of birth certificate with raised seal. A driver's license or social security card is not acceptable. You'll also need a photo I.D.

Non-U.S. citizens must surrender their passports and/or green cards at time of embarkation, and these documents will be returned the morning of arrival.

To disembark for more than 24 hours in Mexico, guest must have obtained a Mexican Tourist Card from either a travel agent or a Mexican Consulate prior to departure.

You will need an American passport. Green cards are never okay for travel anywhere in the world that requires passport except Canada.

a US Passport or a Green Card is enough as proof of identification and travel document, prior 9/11 a US birth certificate with driving license was enought to travel to Canada, Mexico or on cruises to carribean.

if you're an american citizen, all you need is your birth certificate and a valid id. after dec. 31, 2006, you will need a passport to go the the bahamas. if you're not an american citizen, then yes, you need a green card.
