I would say the biggest "social sin" that plagues the nation today is the sin and disease of mediocrity (a.k.a. broke thinking.)

It's making entirely too many people just settle for the insignifigant things in life, it's ruining the national economy, and it's causing more sin and intra-personal stress than anything else. More stress, more ill-health, more obesity, more smoking, more drinking, more drug usage, as well as a simple lack of self-respect and respect towards others.

It's really quite pathetic.

More divided families, more working mothers, more arguements over money than any other family issue, etc.

That's my take.

America, the nation founded on a system of Free-Enterprise...is the only nation on the planet that doesn't teach it's own system of economy and personal prosperity.

A Corporate-American system is plague-like. Corporation has roots in the Greek word "corpos" which means death/corpse.

Makes you wonder why they make suicide-proof windows at most cubicle-prisons doesn't it?

Mediocrity and broke-minded thinking...the biggest social/economical disease in America.

The anti Acts Churches all across our nation. There are thousands of them out there and millions of people attend them blindly not knowing that they are wrong. These people dress up on Sunday and sit next to people who are hungry or even homeless and they don't even inquire as to how the person is really doing. I have seen clergy turn their noses up at people who don't fit the mold of the average "church person".

If your church is spending more money on the building and services than it is on the needs of the community please have your pastor read Acts. Specifically Acts chapter 2.

Liberalism. The determination to bring everyone into their own little pursuit of license, while feeling that they, as 'enlightened' beings, need not adhere to their beloved tenets of faith.
Freedom is good, but license is just anarchy in the social realm, and as such is more destructive than any of them can possibly imagine. The ridiculous thing is, Liberals don't think clearly enough to see that reality. They think it'll change the world they're living in, so nobody will point the disapproving finger at them. But they're sure it'll be okay, because no matter how disastrous this changing of the world might become, it won't affect THEM.
Right.

Obesity. The idea of being obese is such a 'heavy' issue that it had been brought to the public agenda and actions that stress the importance of physical health--relating to intake of healthy foods and the need of excercise--has been written into legislation. The people...the society...have placed that much 'weight' on it.

REPENT YOU SINNING TWO-TON GARGANTUANS!!! (ooo...that reminds me I have to go to McD's again)

I would say letting HMOs decide on how much care and what care is necessary, particularly psychological treatment. Big Money running the world is the most damaging social "sin" there is. if you don't have it, you lose when push comes to shove.
