I've had my 2 yr. old female since she was 5 wks. old. she was a stray who I found up at a car wash parking lot (some man dumped her and her brother as I was later told by girl at the car wash). well anyway, since I've had her I've always noticed that when she walks her back legs kind of go to the far side of her body like she has a crooked walk. her brother didn't have this but unfortunatly I had to put him to sleep this past July because of sudden kidney failure that my vet didn't treat properly (needless to say I''m not using that vet anymore). so, I was just wondering if cats could really be bow-legged or just have a crooked walk. if so, was she born with this. I've spoken to my (new) vet they said that she's a healthy and happy cat. it doesn't bother her. I'm just curious. I luvvvvvvvv her and she's my baby!! any answers will be greatly appreciated! Thanx!!

She sounds like a real love. I'm glad you have a new vet to help you take care of her and if she has been given a clean bill of health by the vet then there is nothing to worry about.

Maybe she has a kind of rickets from early malnourishment or it may be a kind of birth defect. Anyway, she is your darling and I don't think you should worry at all about her.

My cats are bow legged on their front legs. My vet said they are fine, just when they get older they may be more prone to arthritis and slight discomfort. You should always discuss any concerns about the health of your animals with your vet no matter how trivial you may think they are. Just keep going to the vet, keep your kitty healthy, and love her, and she'll be just fine.

My 19 yr old kitty's front legs look like she's been in the saddle too long. I tease her, tell her she looks like a bulldog. Then she bites me, HARD, and walks away indignantly. She's looked like this since she was a kitten and she's almost 20 now.

My cat also walks funny! When you watch him from behind, he swings his back legs out wide. Its funny, I never even noticed it until someone else brought it up then I started paying attention to the way other cats walk, sure enough he has his own special "gait". And yes he is perfectly healthy.

I hope you get better answers than the one you offered me. I didn't ask for a cat to have kittens in my yard.

It happens to Dogs too. All you have to do is feed them Vitamin E and the'll straighten right up.
