You first step is to stop being ashamed. Your second step is to find someone to talk to about your problems. If you are unwilling to take these steps you will not get better, and in fact you will get worse. There is no reason to feel shame. Believe me, the professionals have heard it all and then some, so nothing shocks them.
Continue with the vitamins, get some physical exercise on a regular basis, learn to do yoga, and seek professional help. Good luck.

I'm sorry that you are suffering right now, but you can get through this. The first thing to realize is that this depression IS NOT YOUR FAULT. You don't have a "weak personality", but you might have clinical depression or an anxiety disorder. These are physical conditions and you shouldn't feel ashamed about talking with your doctor about this, any more than you should feel ashamed talking with them about having a cold or stubbing your toe. Your doctor can help you find out what's wrong, you might have depression that can be helped with antidepressants or you might have something even more simple, like your thyriod gland might not be working properly. If you don't want to take medications, or you just need someone to talk to, your doctor can help you find a counselor who can teach you skills to deal with the stress and sadness.
The walking and vitamins are good, keep up with that, but in agreeing with David, exercise for depression helps the most when it's more intense, (unless you have a physical reason against it) I would recommend exercise that gets your heart pumping faster, walk really fast, walk uphill, run, bike, swim. I know it's hard to find the time, but it would be best if you can exercise 4-5 days per week for half an hour or more each time.
Depression is very common, most people experience it at some point in their lives, so it is nothing to be embarrassed about. There is help out there for you, you don't have to suffer. Talk to your doctor and feel better soon.

OK, been there. Depression that is.
First, walking is a WASTE OF TIME. People like you and me need a good right-between-the-eyes challenge every day to keep ourselves in control of our depression.
The ONLY THING that works is a daily exercise program.
On Mon-Wed-Fri, you need to do some serious weightlifting.
What is serious. That is where you squat down, pick up a barbell and weights, and HOLD it for 20 seconds. Keep your elbows bent, your knees bent, and bend over. The weight should be SO HEAVY you cannot barely hold it for the entire 20 seconds.
This FORCES! two things; your mind to focus 100% on the weight. And two; pushes your electricity UP in your body to recharge your body.
On Mon-Tue-Wed-Thur-Fri, you need to do an aerobic exercise, such as The Step. When you wake up, do 5-15 minutes. Before you go to bed, do 5-15 minutes.
This pushes your chemicals in your brain up, as well as your endorphins and other chemicals that control your emotions.
DEFINITELY take a daily multivitamin with multiminerals.
I have been fighting depression all of my life. For the last 20 years I have been in control. Not my depression. And yes, it really sucks!!
Now, get to it!

I have been depressed since as long back as I can remember. I don't know what to tell you, personally, I don't want to get medication because I don't believe that it helps fix the problem, it just covers it up. I don't want to talk to a therapist because I don't believe that they actually care. So here I am 15 years later, still feeling the same. If you get an answer that works, send your information this way.

I have dealt with depression for over 20 years. I see a therapist and I attend meetings with many other people like us.
I have found that ANY exercise helps. Walking is my favorite and the easiest for me to do. I have also changed my eating habits and got away from most junk food. I no longer drink alcohol. I have found that once I started to talk to people and became honest with what was really running thru my head, I started to get better. I wish you the best.

You should see a doctor and talk openly about it. It isn't something to be ashamed of and the right help can make a tremendous difference in your life. A family doctor is probably not the answer, but a good understanding one can point you in the right direction. There is a lot of help out there, depending on where you live. Please find it. Good luck and God bless.

Try going to a psychiatrist and get some medication - it may be a disorder of the brain - even if it's not - it's not your fault you are depressed - life hands you lemons and who the heck wants lemonade!@

you should get over your shame about going to the doctor. The doctor will help you, maybe even prescribe something to help with the depression so you can get things under control.
