I am planning on enetring the AF as an officer with my BSN. I will be going to Officer training but specialized for healthcare professionals. I understand i would enter as a 2nd LT. How easy or better yet, how fast could I expect to get promoted. Please include rank and number of years that I would be looking at before I saw the promotion.

Well, I did not read everything you wrote, and I did not do service as an Officer. But maybe this will help in some small way. One more tip, A brand new 2lt told a flight of Airmen this when we were waiting to start a parade in training. "Don't Sweat the Small ****!" It helped, but it is pretty common now.
Depends on several factors. Practice aptitude tests before you take the one with the AF. It depends on that partly. It all about your carrier field, AFDC when I was in, I was Ammo, absolutely no promotions beyond E3 in Four years, but that was in the Tactical Air Force. So it is aptitude, carrier field, and which Air force you get assigned to, Tac, Strategic, Training of Special Services. If you want Rank, be in the Strategic Air force with the Bombers. But the best assignment are as Special Forces like what they call Rescue and Recovery. The PJ, Para-jumper has Medic training, Jungle Warfare Training with the Army, Parachute Training, Scuba Divers school with the Navy, and so on. Also, Prisoner of War school. Or at least it was that in the 1970's and I am sure they still exist.
Basically, PJ's ride in a helicopter or another appropriate connivance and rescue downed pilots. Medical stuff is a big part of it.
Another thing, is get involved in the base activities, like church and volunteer for extra duty through headquarters unit. You will find the big wigs there that can get to know you and help you along the way.
Good Luck!

Eh, I guess if you wanna do nothing and collecta check the AF is the way to go, especially if you are going in as a medical Zero. To my understanding, you get promoted automatically, as in, you serve your time in, with no problems, and you automatically get your next set of bars, 1st Lt, Capt... In other words, you do 1 year and voila... 1st. Lt, another 2 years and taa daa.. Captain. In other words, you just show up for work and have no BS problems. I think after that there are alot of other paperwork and formalities you have to go through to get Major and so on. But once you are in, you'll find out from all the other Zeros.
By the way whats the difference between a 2nd Lt and a Private First Class?
The Private First Class has already been promoted once.

As in they give you the rank. In the Air Force earning the rank up to Captain is simple, keep your nose clean. Generally, graduates from the Air Force Academy will get the higher ranks.
O-2 is 18 months in the Air Force
0-3 is 4 years in the Air Force
After that it's "may the best man/woman win." That is the minimum time in the Air Force required to be those ranks.

Up to captain is automatic and you should get there in about four years. After that, it's a lot of politics.
