Is it strange that I am an avid non-Christian, yet find the Democratic party repulsive, believe that the war on terror is a just cause, and liberalism has turned to **** in the last ten years? Am I a progressive republican or just a compulsive middle-of-the-roader?

Will: How is embracing the ideals from each party that I find to be righteous lazy? I find that following some party based on blue or red alone to be lazy.

Well I am a non-christian and I don't like the democratic party either although they occasionally put up one or two decent candidates an election. So I am an Independent and always vote a split ticket. People tell me I'm too middle of the road, too much a fence sitter because I won't choose one party over another. Why should I.. I won't follow religion blindly so why a political party.. I prefer to use my brain.

Do what I'm going to do... and have done for the past 4 Presidential elections. Vote (write-in) for Pat Paulson in 2008. (Yeah... I know he's dead now... but he's STILL a better choice that what we get from the Republicans and Democrats.

Not strange. I'm the opposite, sort of. I'm a Christian but I've just about had it with the reps. Though the dems aren't any better, in fact I consider them worse in most cases. You know what they say, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. Guess I'm gonna have to run for president again.

No, that's honorable. You're able to make decisions for yourself and not simply tow the party line. You're an Extreme Moderate.

i wouldn't say strange...but you're using common sense. In my imperfect opinion, I'd say you're inbetween a republican and a middle of the roader (good term by the way).

As one compulsive middle-of-the-roader to another, it sounds like you're just as fed up with politics as I am.

The fact that you are non-christian doesn't mean you automatically have to be democrat. If you can live with the way the repubs cater to the religious fringe element of their party than you should vote that way.

I suspect you are simply intellectually lazy. You absorb random ideas from pop culture with no rhyme or reason and then marvel at your own internal inconsistency.

Edit: You didn't say you embraced some of each party. You specifically mentioned that you find one party repulsive.
