A violation noticed is given when another users is offended by the content of either the question or the answer. And so you are reported for abuse. Also the Q&A team can serve a violation notice on you for various reasons..See community guidelines for further information.

I haven't gotten one yet, but I'm certainly expecting one at any given moment. It seems like the 'reports' are just filed away & violations given at random without Yahoo really checking into the incidents at all.

I've seen violations given without what I would consider to be any valid reason, & I've also seen vulgar, abusive, & frankly....idiotic things slip past without anyone batting an eyelash.

I just wish I understood the system that's being used.

What is a problem is Yahoo seem to give them out and even suspend people without checking to see if the violation report is genuine or not. Don't worry I have not reported you!

I got one and I was mad! Basically some guy asked "why can't incest be made legal?" and I thought it was a sick question especially when he asked other disgusting questions and should have been taken off Yahoo. I posted a question asking people's opinions on this and some girl reported me because she thought maybe he was asking that question for information and admitted she reported me for abuse! Doesn't it make you angry when you are innocent?!

I was doing so well until I told someone that the best outfit she could wear was a body bag? What's wrong with that? She said I was a bad parent without knowing any details about me.

Diss me all you like but do not mention my kids :-)

I got one for the first time last week! She put that my answer was neither a question or an answer! I provided an answer and a link! So reported everyone that answered anyway...

What's a violation notice? Is that where you do something wrong on Yahoo answers and they say you're bad?

I haven't yet, but I'm sure it will happen one day. I think if someone is being a jerk, you should be able to call them on it and not get punished for it, all within reason of course.

I got one today. Someone posted an adult question. Yahoo didn't remove it and I answered it (write me if you want to know the specifics of the question -- i don't want to get another one). I answered with one regular, non-obscene, non-adult-oriented word and got nailed for it.
