Actually you don't have to boil them for long. For the perfect hard boiled egg with no ring around the yolk and easy to peel you: use enough water to cover, bring eggs to a rapid boil, put a lid on the pot and remove from burner, let sit for 15 minutes and don't remove the lid, once the time is up pour off the water and add cold water until cool. Perfect eggs everytime!

This is how I do it. Put the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Put on high to boil and cover. One the water is at a good rolling boil turn the burner off and let the eggs sit on the burner for 15 minutes. To stop the cooking drain the hot water and let the eggs sit in cold water for several minutes. You can even add ice. They will cool quickly. Perfect hard boiled eggs every time.

It's actually only suppose to take 7 minutes to boil an egg. I usually give it 10 for good measure. After they are done boilling I dump the hot water out (leaving the eggs) and run cold water over them. (About 1 min) Then I fill the pan up with cold water. I take a spoon and gently smack the eggs with it and place it back in the cold water(1 at a time). Then after I've done that I take the first egg (if you can remember which one it was lol) and start to peel it. The cold water helps out a lot. It should only take a couple of minutes and they will be finished. (don't wait very long to peel them, the longer you wait the harder it is to get the shell off) I then stick them in the freezer for a few minutes.

The name hard boiled egg is wrong. It should be hard cooked egg because boiling will crack the shell and cook the egg unevenly. If you poke a hole in the flat end (air chamber), you are less likely to break the shell. Cover with water and bring to a simmer for 15-17 minutes, then soak in ice water. Also fresh eggs don't peel as easily as 2-3 week old ones.

Put eggs in a pot and cover with water an inch over them. Bring to a boil. Boil 15 min. Drain, and while draining run cold water over them and shake the pan to crack and loosen the shells. Let sit for 5 minutes in the cool water. Peel under cold running water. Perfect all the time.

(Older but not outdated eggs are better, the fresher they are the harder they are to peel.)

In a 2 quart pan place 1 dozen eggs. Add two tablespoons of salt to water (makes them peel easier) Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes. Place cooked eggs in a bowl of cold water and peel them. Viola you have the perfect hard boiled egg.

this is how i do it:
1 put eggs in a saucepan
2 pour cold water over them that covers them by about an inch
3 turn water onto high heat
4 as soon as water starts boiling, turn the heat down, but keep it
at a rolling boil (medium to medium-high heat)
5 set timer for 10 min., keeping them at the rolling boil, then after timer goes off, remove from heat
6 put the eggs into ice water, or put them under cold running
water for a few min. (this prevents the green ring around the
eggs when you peel off shell
7 then just peel off the shell and eat or do whatever u want with
em!

Put them in a saucepan with cold water until the eggs are covered. Once they start boiling, boil for ten minutes. You will have the most perfect hard-boiled eggs.

Put eggs in cold water enough to cover all the eggs, after the water starts to boil . cook eggs 10 minutes , turn off. and cover with lid for 15 minutes. pour out water and let eggs set in cold water while peeling , don't let the eggs stay in cold water to long . they wont peel good.
