Could be an allergy to the apple itself, or to the pesticides used during its production or possibly the wax that is often applied to fruit to make it look better!
First try peeling your apple to see if the allergy is to the fruit itself. If it isn't, then try washing the fruit before eating it, skin and all. If that test goes okay then I suggest you buy organic. No pesticides, waxes or anything other than the fruit, the whole fruit and nothing but the fruit.

I have this problem with many fruits too! It's called oral mouth syndrome. Try looking it up online. There's something in these fruits that mimic certain pollens, grasses, etc... About 2 years after getting severe hayfever/seasonal allergies, I developed these weird reactions to LOTS of different fruits! The body is trying to fight off the allergen, associating it with something else. It's really disappointing considering I grew up grazing on many fruits, cherries, apples, plums, peaches, pears, strawberries, etc... in my father's orchard. When I really crave one of these fruits I take a benadryl or a sudafed allergy tablet approximately 45 minutes before I eat it. I wouldn't recommend this without talking to your doctor though! Your allergy may be more serious and you don't want to chance having an anaphylactic attack!

my lips always swell when eating grapefruit, but i suppose its cheaper than having collagen implants, its an allergy, its great to have full lips but not when they are itchy like mine always go.if you want to go out for a night on the town, and only get swollen lips without other side effects then eat an apple before going out.blokes will be falling at your feet.(if your single that is)

Stop eating apples. You get hives from something in apples which you are allergic to. The more episodes of hives from this allergy, the worse it will get and will very likely eventually transfer to other foods. Lay off apples!

Sounds like an allergic reaction. I wouldn't toy with it. When you have an allergy to something, your body's reaction has the potential to increase dramatically with each exposure. You will not have much warning before it is the one time that you will go into anaphylactic shock and could die.
