Baked Beans In French

True French "Baked beans" are referred to as a 'Cassoulet' (ca-soo-lay) They normally will have a pork product, like sausage or similar, onion and sometimes a tomato based product as well. Your best bet is to order them in a restaurant or family owned bistro when visiting France. They are close in texture to what we know as baked beans here in the USA, flavor is a little different, but that can be attributed to other ingredients used in the cooking process.

If you want beans go to Mexico.
If you want croissants, well you can get those in Mexico as well.
I think that the French are very set in their culinary ways and this is why you can't find baked beans in France.
