Is it true that they are allowing accomplanied Korean tours now for the army? I heard that if my husband gets orders to go, the family can go with for a 2 year tour, otherwise it is a one year unaccompanied tour. Is this true?

Gabri you are an idiot. Don't answer a question unless you have some inkling of an idea about what is going on. BTW, Koreans love us. Lots of the women try to marry G.I.'s to get out of there and come to the States.

You can do one year accompanied tours to Korean, but you would have to pay for everything. No BAS or BAQ will apply. My friend from ROTC just got back from a one year tour to Korea. He took his wife but he had to pay for her to go. They were lucky since his father if a full bird and stationed in Seoul and she was able to live with the in-laws. They lived an hour apart though, and only saw each other on the week-ends (better that nothing). Sorry about the 2 year question, that I don't know. Good luck.

I'm a Korea veteran that returned to the states in Oct 05. The accompanied billet depends on (1) your husband's rank and (2) the slot he is filling. Typically your talking about E7 and above if Enlisted and 03 and above if an officer. Good luck.

I believe it is only for officers and their families. Enlisted families usually have to stay in the states because the military does not have enough housing for everyone in Korea. You can move there by choice, but you will have to pay for your move if your husband is enlisted and you will have to live off base, which is dangerous considering you will not be in the evacution plan if something should happen. This has been being said for a while now and most of it is just our families dream of staying together, unfortunately.

Depends on your husband's MOS and where his duty station will be. The further north he goes, the less likely they will allow it. And, if you do decide to go with him, the apartments are not the same as they are stateside. He will also be not allowed to go home to you everyday though he may be granted weekend pass once a month. He will also only stay with you until before midnight because there is a curfew for all service members.

There are some Acompanied slots allowed, but not everyone gets them. Rank is one factor, with location being another consideration.

It is possible but you have to be in a command sponsored position so it's unlikely for most people.
