My son's had a few mosquito bites lately, so when I saw a raised bump I didn't think anything of it. Now it's changed into the bullseye similar to after a tick bite. It's more of a cresent than a ring right now. But we don't have deer ticks here (as far as I know) and Lyme disease is unheard of in our area. Everything I've read about this sort of mark says that it's a first sign of Lyme disease. He has an appt to get it looked at in a few hours, but is it possible it's just a rash or something, or does this mark always mean Lyme disease? I just keep thinking that I would have noticed a tick on his leg for a day or more.

Most people who get Lyme disease get a bullseye mark, but every bullseye mark isn't Lyme disease. Lyme disease is all over the place, as well as other tick diseases, so don't rule it out.

Lyme disease usually has a fever along with it. I had some kind of tick fever (and I didn't find the tick until I was already really sick) and I took some antibiotics and I felt somewhat better. I had headaches, nausea, fatigue, joint pain, a horrible backache, and a fever for 2 and a half weeks.

If it doesn't itch, burn, hurt, or cause a rash or fever...watch it and make sure it goes away. I used to get boils a lot (me and Job, Biblical plagues suck) and I'd get a hot red bullseye mark around where the boil was going to be. So you want to watch it, but it's not always Lyme disease.

You have done the right thing to get to the doctor as if it is a tick bite it needs antibiotics straight away, never mess with these ,one of my patients has Lymes and it is a dreadful disease. It doesn't automatically mean you have something but in your country never mess with a tick bite.

Lyme has spread like wildfire. It is everywhere, so don't think that your son couldn't be the first case in your area.

As a long time sufferer I would strongly suggest you demand antibiotic treatment. It is not something you would want your son to contract. I think if treated very early it is easily curable. The antibiotics are potent, but very benign. I have never had any side effects.

Goodluck.

May not be lyme disease. If your in the mid west or southern part of the u.s, theres a spider there called the brown recluse that leaves a mark exactly like you just descibed, so maybe its a spider bite. Don't worry, the brown recluse is toxic, not poisonous.

You should have the bite checked out if it doesn't go away in 2 to 3 days. If your child has any fever, vomiting, or other sickness you need to go right away. Bites effect everyone differently, it could just be something that was allergic to.

may or may not be lyme disease, id definetly take him to a doctor to see for sure, lyme disease is pretty easy to get rid of in the early stages. and it is gaining territory fast, he might have just been the first person in your area to get it

It sounds like a spider bite. I would get him checked now. I know a girl that was bitten by a non-poisonous spider and she got a staff infection next to her eye.

I WOULD SERIOUSLY GET YOUR CHILD CHECKED, JUST BECAUSE YOU "DON'T THINK" THERE ARE DEER TICKS DOESN'T MEAN THERE REALLY AREN'T! I ENDED UP WITH THE SAME RASH, DID HAVE LYME DISEASE, AND WAS PUT ON ANTIBIOTICS FOR 3 WEEKS. WE DIDN'T THINK THERE WERE DEER TICKS HERE EITHER.
