Confident or conceited?
WHat is the difference between confidence and conceit? the what do you do question always pops up and I don't have a good answer or one that I dont have to downplay or people think I am full of crap. I basically invent things and write the patents, I am in the middle of a major project that will replace the police baton, at least in the corrections environment. I have had it reviewd by several countries and on a national level in the United states. I learned to write the patents myself developed my own martial arts system (for the baton) Invented a bandage for chemical warfare and other medical tools.
made a computer program to train snipers, and even did some crap with fishing lures that trigger a fishes ability to find the lure in the dark. Girls just look at me like duh! I just do that stuff for fun, and So I could take better care of my family whoever my new girl and son. I don't even talk about it unless I have to its embarrassing and people don't ge

you wrote alot of stuff that had nothing to do with your question. confidence is a good self-esteem about oneself; conceit is over-inflating that esteem!!!
since you posted this twice, i would have to say you have the "con" part right ~~~ only, it's neither confident nor conceited, but rather CONFUSED!!!

Let me guess; your a computer guy. You sound like an analytical but very talkative and boring guy. Just say that your an inventor; and when they say what do you invent, tell them different small items in the law enforcement field.

When someone asks another person how they're doing, they dont' really want to know most of the time. They're just being polite. When someone asks you what you do, they dont' want to EXACTLY know what you do.

You need to lighten up and shorten your answers a ton. What does this statement mean,"I just do that stuff for fun, and So I could take better care of my family whoever my new girl and son." If you have a girlfriend or a wife, why do you need to be worried about what you say to other girls?

Be careful about how much detail you give in casual conversation. Saying you are an inventor in the corrections industry will often be enough. If they ask further, you can give further details, but avoid talking about how it was "reviewed in several countries and on a national level in the US" because that sounds more like bragging. Just wait until the conversation seems natural for that.

Also, make sure to spend as much time asking about what they do for a living, and not just talking about your own job.

Do you say this whole paragraph each time someone asks you what you do ? If so then that's why your coming off conceited. You could have just said I invent things and been done with it.

Confidence means you have a general positive idea of what you are good at and how you feel about yourself Conceit is when you're are completely full of yourself and all you talk and think about is you and how great you are confidence just means you feel good about yourself but don't brag about it hope I helped

ok, when they ask you what you do...give a general statement like "i invent stuff and write patents"
when they say, "o really? like what?"...just give one example and not too many details...you dont have to say all those you said a while ago...if they keep asking then thats when you tell them...little by little
remeber, less is more.
