Suppose you are driving your vehicle on the highway, and by mistake you take a wrong exit. You keep wandering around that part of town to see if you can eventually find an exit to get back into the highway, but in vain. It is about 2:00 AM, and there is hardly anyone you can see on the streets, to ask for help. Also, there is no board sign or advertisement that indicates which city or town exactly are you in. You don't have a GPS navigation system or wireless internet access. What would you do in this situation? Assuming you are wandering on a long Boulevard (Blvd)

The entrances back on to the highway are usually near where you get off. I would drive back to where I got off and go in the other direction.

If the boulevard was pointed in the same general direction as the highway I lost, I would continue in that direction until I either saw a major thuroughfare cross street that would point me back in the direction of the highway, and take that, or continue until such time as I was out of the urban environment, safely in burbs or country, and seek out advice about getting back on track.

I just drive a main street do not circle and hope I cross a Freeway or sign and after 10/15 miles take a right on another main street. That night in Ohio it took about thiry minutes and I was very glad I had plenty of gas.

If I had exhausted all other resources, I would call for the local state police or city police and tell them exactly where I am and where I'm trying to get so they can give me some sense of where to turn and get back on the highway.

I would find a road that runs parallel with the interstate and keep driving until I found an entrance ramp onto the interstate.

I have no phone or anything, so I would go to the nearest gas station or a 24/7 convenience store and ask the clerk. They always have maps in those places, too.
