i dont understand why people of faith cant believe in scientific facts, they think everything is down to god even though theres proof that some things arent.

its not a hateful question, take a look at all the questions asked by christians, some of those are nasty towards atheists,im merely changing the view to see the responses.

ok here goes, i don't believe that christians 'can't' believe the scientific facts, it's just that they don't want to. You see christians believe that when they die they will go to a better place etc etc, you know all the stuff that comes with being christian, so my thoughts are that they are scared to look right into the facts because they fear they will find the truth!! Alot of people are affraid to die, but if they believe that they are going to a better place then it is not so bad, and if by believing this, they live a good and honest life while they are alive then so be it. I don't agree that christians are 'narrow minded' if anything they are probably more open minded than most!

First, everything is UP to God.
Sure, maybe He threw everything down here in the first place; but those Laws of Physics and free-willed Humans took over, put it all back together the way they liked it.
Long ago, people learned that it's easier to live in peace if everyone agrees on rules. Then the kids ask, "Whose rules are these?"
If someone claims to make the rules, the kids just kill him and live rule-free (no matter what chaos may develop); the people who make the rules know this, and so made up 'God' to blame the rules upon.
It's easier to believe in a single cause for all the rules than to 'proove' (hypothesize, theorize, test, and verify) seperate causes for each individual rule.
Then maybe "God" isn't a 'person'-type being at all; maybe He's more like a sentient shade of pink.

I'm amazed and amused by someone who is calling Christians narrow-minded. The obvious inference is that ALL Christians are too stupid and ignorant to be able to discern a truth, any kind of truth, and especially a scientific truth.
In the first place, doesn't that make you a tad narrow minded because you have lumped everyone who calls themselves Christian into the same bag? My church is filled with people who are just like everyone else. There are plenty of people with degrees--doctors, lawyers, engineers, bank managers. People who own their own businesses. Working people who go to 9 to 5 jobs. Women who stay home with their kids. Women who work outside the home. There isn't one iota of difference between the "ignorant Christians" in my church and the general population. With the exception, of course, that they believe in Jesus, the son of God, and the Savior of the world.
Ahhh--but there's the rub--that's enough to get us condemned to assumptions of mental mediocrity. After all, no one but a fool would believe in a God that we can't see, or feel, or touch. If He's not right here, right now to deliver us from every kind of inane circumstance that our own banality get us into, then He can't be real, can He.
Well, I've put my faith in Jesus whether I can see Him or not. He has proven Himself to me on numerous occasions and I can only laugh at people, who because I believe in God think that I must be a moron. Besides believing in God I also believe that He is knowable; has a will, emotions, and thoughts; has a personality; that He loves me; and that He has the power to see that His will will be done.
I do believe in scientific facts, but not even scientists believe in all of them. Just like I do, they test them to see which ones are true and which ones aren't. You should take some of your over-developed scepticism and apply it to some of these "facts". Just because they are taught as "facts" doesn't mean that they necessarily hold up when light is shown on them.

God is the author and the creator of science. His creation is based on His perfect science and laws. Why should I as a christian believe that His laws for living and salvation are any less perfect or that they can be bent to meet the differeing views of society. Everything has a proper order, can a chemist create water without Oxygen and Hydrogen simply because those elements are two simple for the educated mind?

My parents raised me as a Christian, but I became an agnostic once I was old enough to examine the facts for myself. Not ALL Christians are narrow minded, but you will encounter many who are. The answer is simple..when you build your whole life around the principles of God and the Bible etc. etc., providing any evidence that would disprove it in some form or fashion causes them to get extremely defensive. It is extremely tramautic to face the possibility that everything you believe in might be wrong, so many simply use dogmatic techniques to prevent that from happening,

True Science can't disprove the Bible or prove it to be 100% right. But it's the only thing that makes the most sense. I mean once a unchristian scientists said the only explanation to what the earth came was through creation/evolution. We all know that evolution is totally off, so the only option left is creation, which had to be made by God. We Christains aren't narrow minded just opened minded to the real truth.

the same reason Jews are narrow minded, and Muslims are narrow minded, and you know what the same reason everyone is narrow minded. You have actually made a generalization, which is like discrimination, however I have a feeling you did it on purpose just to get a rise out of someone. Are you having fun yet? Did you get the rise you were looking for? FYI You could probably just go out and drive around and cut a whole bunch of people off and get the same reaction.

Cause most of them are stuck in their own ways. God haves yet to been proved so until it's proved in my eyes god is fake. Just like the easter bunny and santa is fake.
They are set in their ways. Its simple you are correct! The bible was written so long ago and was written by man not by god his self. Alot of the story's in the bible are far fetched plus how many people actually live their life the same way they did back then? My guess is none of them.
Don't you find it odd that the lady below who said something about people trying to tell them their beliefs are fake. Well then now maybe she knows how everyone feels when the christians try to push their religion on everyone else.
