How old is ur son? I potty trained my son when he was almost 2 yrs old. At first I tried the pull-ups but that just confused him...too much like diapers. So I tried the next thing...I had him wear toddler boxer shorts or regular undies all day. I just want to warn u though when u put the undies on...it will get messy...but it will help him undstand the difference between diapers and undies...and believe me he will not like being wet or dirty in undies. Also you need to be very CONSISTANT...first thing in the morning put him on the potty...u can either buy a smaller toilet seat to put over ur regular tiolet ($7 at wal-mart) or a regular potty. I got the smaller seat, anyways u have to keep asking him almost every 30min if he needs to go pee-pee or poo-poo. I did that consistanly for 2wks and now he goes by himself and he's 2 1/2 yrs old. I hope this helps.

Let him see other males go to the restroom. Like a cousin or a really good friend, father, etc. Also reward him with something he really wants or a "potty party" at a "special" place once he gets potty trained fully.

I struggled when I was potty training my son. He was at least 3 before he really got started. I just let him do it when he was ready. If you force them and they are not ready it will back fire on you. Then it will be even longer before you get him potty trained.

if he seems ready (takes his diaper off all the time, wakes up dry in the am, talks about going potty), get a potty chair (or just set him on mommy's toilet backwards - facing the tank) and spend a day in the bathroom! Read books, color, sing... whatever will keep him occupied in there. When he goes - make it a big deal!! Sing & dance!!! Give him a reward (stickers, m&ms... whatever!!!)

Yes, reward him like he's a dog not a person. I am of course being sarcastic. Just keep working with him. Keep showing him how's it done, and reminding him to tell you when he has to potty. Some kids are just a lil more stubbourn than most. You get through it!! Good Luck!

My son who just turned 3 on the 6th, is giving me the hardest time.......I'm not sure.....honestly.....I reward him every time he goes pee in the potty with a sticker or a jelly belly and he loves that but he still will not come and tell me he needs to pee and he wont go number 2 on the potty still he holds it in for days at a time.....I have to ask him almost every 30Min's....and sometimes i forget b/c i get distracted.....hopefully we will get past this little bump.

well maybe you could try to make the potty look like a toy that you sit on, so that way he will be more likely to use it.
Good luck

THe cheerio answer sounds fun but I am guessing he would want to swim with them and eat em up...
My 3 year old took a day or so now goes consistantly...He always wants you to leave the bathroom and you just praise the heck out of him when he does it and reward him somehow...It will get better soon...
