ok.here's the problem.there's this guy in my college & i'm new there,he's not.he's the only guy i haven't talked with still.

apparently he hadn't had much luck with girls & he had told my friends that he's 'kind of laying off girls for the time being".anyone got any tips on how to start talking to him without making it too obvious?my friends have this idea abt inviting us to a conference online & then signing off, leaving us to do the talking so that it won't feel too awkward at school...will that work or are there any better strategies?

p.s.he's not in any of my classes,i see him only at break but he's coming to this youth group thing in church which i'll probably attend as well

usually,i'm a very outgoing person, but in this situation the problem is that i started liking him before talking to him...

thanks for all your suggestions.really appreciate it :)

Well, doing what your friends offered to do for you. That way you and him can get to know one another and possibly get him to think differently about dating anyone, but dont rush into anything. That would probably be the least obvious way to talk to him without the awkward feeling. Now joining the youth group would be another good way to get to know him, but dont just go to the youth group to just to get to know him, go because you want to. I hope i didnt offend you on that one, but even just seeing him at a get together might work also. Put anything into consideration, you will probably get an awkward feeling anyway you do it.

I think the best thing you can do is just be friends with this guy. You don't even know him enough to like him. So, just lay low. Get to know him. And then, if you still like him after getting to know him, let him know how you feel. You shouldn't alienate the guy up front cuz he might not even be worth all this stress you're putting yourself through.

Hard one! Live one day at a time. Don't try to rush things. Talk to him when you get a chance. Try to "show up" at places that you know he will be. Find out his interests and if you get a chance, talk to him as if they are your interests, too. After a while you could ask him out to lunch or dinner, your treat. If you two have any chemistry together, then it will work.
