Ok so, I like this guy and we were friends like 3 months ago. But now the most we ever say to each other is, " Do you know where _____ is?". That's it, it's the most annoying thing ever. Because I can tell that he wants to come up and say stuff to me but he won't because he's shy. And i have a hard time starting conversations with people because i'm shy. So how should i start the conversation? Or at least let him know that it's ok to come talk to me.

Try asking him out to a movie. That's always an ice breaker. You guys wont have to talk during the movie, and once it's over, you can converse about it. From there start to trail into related stuff, like, "that one part reminded me of...." or "I liked this part because of something that happened like....".
So on and so forth, just go about it that way. You're bound to make conversations like that.

Ask him. Find a common interest you both have and continue from there.

Ask him "Do you know where the keys are??" and he'll say "What keys?" and you can say "The keys to my heart" and then laugh about it... that'll work. TRUST ME!
