don't bother to get one at all
get some glass baby food jars or canning jars
get milk, add a spoonfull of plain yogurt to the sterilized jar (boil the jar in water, let it cool)
cover with milk, screw on lid loosely, put in oven set at 200 degrees for 2 hrs, turn off oven leave overnight
et viola, yogurt
in the summer, I don't bother with the oven, but set it out on my balcony all day

Get an electric machine. It's easier and doesn't require constant monitoring.

Alls you need is a sealable jar and five paper bags (one inside the other) and you're good to go.

Heat condensed milk to a boil.
Add active yogurt
Pour in jar and seal
Place in bags.
Let sit for a couple hours
Refrigerate
Enjoy

Electric - but try your crock pot, some will go that low and you won't have to store one more appliance.
