what if I believe that evolution occurred, but evolution was God's tool?

Am I going to hell because I think that Genesis is just a story and not literal?

Yep, if you don't believe every part of the bible, including that bit about not wearing two different kinds of fabric, it's eternal fire for you.

What if god created THE UNIVERSE ONLY?! Then evolution happened and BAM! It's like the universe is clockwork man, and god is the clockmaker! He only steps in from time to time to check the time and wind up the universe!

So yeah, I don't believe in traditional evolution theory either. And no I don't really believe the above, but it is something that it fun to think about! I do believe, however, that god is forgiving and really does not care all that much about the literal translations of the bible. If god was in a church on Sunday, I bet he would say, "I hate it when he tells this story" whenever it came to the fire and brimstone parts.

The most important factor is belief in Jesus and that he died for our sins. We may never know how God really created the world until we can see Him and ask for ourselves. I think he had a few tricks up his sleeve. Things have evolved through the years , so it is possible he had a starting point and has improved on things as he went along. That does not imply he is less than perfect, just that he has given more thought after watching how his creations have interacted with one another and made small changes to make some better.

interesting that you believe in hell and not the creation. how did hell come about, what was the beginning of hell.... how did humans come about?

I'm not entirely sure either.... sometimes im curious of scripture wondering if it is sort of made up. it really does seem like a story. such a different time period. Faith is something that maybe i have too little of.

If there was a god, do you really think it only wants people stupid enough to deny evolution in heaven? Why would you believe in a god which you believe provides you brains but doesn't want you to use them.

Personally I think gods are fairytales. But even if they were not fairytales they shouldn't be used as an excuse for stupidity.

Take it easy; you're not going to hell. Genesis is an account of faith, not a science textbook.

Unless you have absolute faith in 'the book' a warm and toasty seat is waiting for you... at least that is what I've been told countless times. It's ok.. you can have the seat next to mine.

No one is going to hell. We all learn from our mistakes when we pass on.
