A lot of the historical places are pretty much okay, as long as you stay out of Gaza and West Bank and such. There are plenty of tour groups you can go with. I mean, think about it. Israel does NOT want its tourists getting blown up, so they try to be pretty careful. Not saying it isn't dangerous, but I plan on going myself in two years or so, even if the situation is still inflamed. Lots of religious tours go all the time. My synagogue sends a group of teens every summer and they all come back completely thrilled that they went.

The media makes Israel seem a lot less safer then other countries. However, It is perferctly safe here. Especially with tours, when there is added security to the sites in which they will take you to see. If there is any threat they will not go because they have a reputation to hold to their customers.

So come to Israel and I guarantee you that you will have a great time!!

The historical places are mainly fine. The last fights have been going on in the North, and there still needs to be a lot of clean up.
To visit Jerusalem is definitely okay. The hotel owners would love to have you.
My father went there 2 years ago, and the hotel owners spoiled them with tons of goodies, because they came to visit. Media has a very bad influence on developing a real clear opinion.

I would say, go for it. I spent 4 months there a few years ago, and I felt very safe.

Especially if you go with a knowledgeable tour guide--they tend to know the places to avoid, etc.

The comments approximately Australia are loopy. They rather have been initially a Gun Nut us of a and protested while their government had to take them away. in spite of the fact that, they have not had a mass taking photos considering that 1992 as a result and the Australians (even people who protested) will now inform you they sense lots safer. besides, no longer all weapons have been taken away; people nevertheless have searching rifles and if a foul guy or boogie guy broke into your place, you may nevertheless have the flexibility to do loads of injury with a searching rifle. My factor - can we actual want each American to have get right of entry to to gadget weapons and sniper rifles? can no longer we limit particular gun get right of entry to and purely make hand weapons and searching rifles available? basically asserting.

Very safe.
Israel is a lot safer than you may think it is from the telly and papers, and actually, I believe it is safer than... New York (for the matter).
Guided tours are even safer, as you'll be guarded this whole time by the best security of Israel.

Shalom.

I wouldn't go, I think anywhere in the middle east is just a hotbed of violence... and especially if you look halfway American...i.e, the way you dress, look, talk..... I wouldn't go, not now anyway.
