We call it "sleepy feet" here. They will knead on us and purr like crazy and then end up falling asleep. They love to do it on fleece blankets, so the cats have their own "sleepy feet" blankies!

The kneading behavior comes from when they were kittens nursing from their mothers. The kneading motion stimulates the milk flow. Kneading in an adult cat is typically a sign of security and contentment.

Yes, Lee's correct. They will knead (at least mine does) on anything that has his mother's tummy feel. Kneading makes the mom produce more milk. My cat loves sweatshirts throws and fuzzy pillows.

They are going back to the comfort of being a kitten when they were nursing from their momma. It is just one of those cat activities that is so endearing. Have a good day.

When they are kittens the kneed on their mothers stomach to help get the milk out and keep flowing-it's a habit they never break-it's like a comfort measure for them.

We call it pussyfooting in our house.
pussyfooting should be 2 words, censured. You would think in cats section you could use the word pussy.
