If you're referring to Christie Whitman, then director of the Environmental Protection Agency, she didn't say it was safe. She said the general levels of hazardous particulates presented no elevated danger to the general public, which has basically proven to be true. She also said that those working at the site itself were being exposed to much higher levels of such particulates and should wear protective gear. Many did not, but that isn't her fault.

The workers have filed a class action lawsuit against the city of New York. They are having all kinds of respitory problems. Everything from unexplainable cough to lung cancer.

No, she based her claims on the EPA's analysis of air samples taken in lower NYC not from the site of the Towers. Even if she said that the air was not safe, proper air filters were not available.

wow...this is a prime example of "i need someone to blame".


we can't blame the terrorist since they are dead, so we blame the poor woman. how sad. lets sue this one woman, for all the sickness that has occured....win the lawsuit....and still get nothing since one person cannot possibly pay back all those funds in the multi-million dollar case.
