I do not speak Sardinian, but you should not be ridiculed for asking this question. I am reporting all the insulting answers. The Sardinian language (or languages depending on how you divide languages and dialects) has a distinctive history and is not closely related to Italian at all. Indeed, the oldest division in the Romance family of languages is between Sardinian and all the other Romance languages. Sardinian is no more closely related to Italian than it is to Romanian or French or Portuguese.
