If people want to harm themselves for the sake of their addiction that's their right.
If it stopped there, no problem. But it doesn't. Prohibiting smoking is the only way that the rest of us get a choice in the matter other than staying home. It's like drunk driving -- drinking is ok, getting absolutely plastered is still legal, but driving under the influence endangers other people. It's the same concept with smoking restrictions, a smoker's rights stop when they start causing harm to other people.

Where I live, people ARE prohibited from smoking, in bars, restaurants, everywhere basically. And, you have to be standing 9 feet away from the building...I personnaly think it's a good thing, why should non-smokers, especially children breathe in all these chemicals?

what business do children have in bars? Why do they continue to sell alcohol knowing that people don't wait to get home to drink. This used to be a free country. maybe they should raise the voting age to 50 because the younger people don't know what it's like to live in a free society. You could stay home and not have to mingle with people and their imperfections.

Smoking should be banned...PERIOD!!!
When fools ask questions like yours, looking for sympathy, I begin fo see smoke pouring from my ears. Only an idiot would continue to place his/her life in jeopardy by continuing to smoke in light of the facts. Do you play Russian Roulette too?

yes, because if i'm going to pay to sit in a bar or restaurant, then i don't want choking on noxious fumes to be part of the deal.

Yes, but it shouldn't be as carried away as it is getting. People need ways to die other than old age.
