The reason the Nighthawk was given the title F-117 was do to treaty commitments the US had with the USSR. A bomber would not been allowed.

It`s Christmas lads, for 2 days the aircraft will be left on their dispersal pans. We shall enjoy the festivities without our families, here in this wilderness we are the family. The officers will serve us the Christmas dinner. Jolly day. Boxing day next. It`s over lads back on the job, we will put up seven tonight , two with flares, five with "1,000 pound bombs" . Where are they going ? ours not to know, they will join the other squadrons, then drone away into the night carrying their lethal cargo. In the morning, only 5 returned lads 14 of our mates downed, prisoners or. the last un spoken. Get on with it get them kites ready for tonight. Happy new year all.

For FreakGirl: How can anyone possibly call the 117 a fighter? No gun, no air-to-air missles. It drops ordnance. It is a bomber.
