I agree... Since there is no hell and no supreme being (though there are gods in Mahayana Buddhism) the question from a buddhist's perspective has little meaning. Breaking the cycle of Karma to reach enlightenment by purging oneself of universal ignorance makes more sense...
Of course if you only way is through Jesus as the new testaments seems to "hint" at, then most of us are going to take a long strange trip ending on some level of Hell...

Ok...I have to say something here.
Buddah, Alla, Jesus Christ, God, Goddess, Hecate, Pan, jehovah, prince of peace....and the list can go on and on.
It doesn't matter what you call your God. Not only Jesus Christ followers are going to heaven! It matters how you connect to GOD
I am Pagan. I see a male aspect and a feminine aspect of God. I serve the supreme God...There only is one. Due to cultures they call this God by other names.
Even the Bible says that HE has MANY NAMES. Not just one or to...there are literally thousands of names for the One true God.
Why do the different religions have to fight one another?!
"Let US make man in OUR own image." What is that saying, and who was he talking to?
The male and feminine aspects and to the earth that he made US out of.
Just because I am Pagan, makes me no better than a Buddahist, and it is WRONG for the christians that are closed minded, and can't seek out their own soul salvation.
If you don't know about a religion...READ A BOOK...BEFORE YOU START CASTING STONE!
Bible evens says, "Let him that is WITHOUT sin, cast the first stone."
We really need to come together as a nation under the most High God and stop all this stupid fighting on who is right and who is wrong!

Some people believe Buddha and Jesus were the same soul.
**There is no hell**. Judaism doesn't teach hell, hello? Jesus never believed in hell. There was the grave, there was a pit where bodies were burned to ash... no hell. This nonsense was added to early Christianity long after Jesus and his disciples were gone, borrowed from the Greek idea of Hades: hell is a lie.

According to the Rig Veda, there is one God who is called by different names. Religion was made by people, God was made by no one. No one particular religion has the monopoly on God. I'm not a Buddhist but I believe that if your wife's folks had faith in God, they will become one with the Divine. Jesus is not the only way. Just as many rivers lead to one ocean, similarly many religions lead to one God. We are all children of God in spirit. Christians are not the only ones who know God. May your wife's parents rest in peace and be blessed.

God has sheep in other fold. The messege will be preached in all the world then the end. That we will not know, because we are judged on what we know. No one can say whether your wife's mom and dad will go to hell, that would be judging. We don't know what they pray about when they are alone. We think we know people from the outside, but God looks on the inside.

Jesus isn't the only way. Kahlil Gibran says there are many doors to G-d. Why do they need redeemed?
Besides, from what I know of Buddhism-makes alot more sense than G-d coming down as Jesus. G-d is One. G-d is G-d.

According to conservative Christianity, yes. Every one of your poor ancestors are condemnned to hell for eternity because they didn't stroke God's petty ego...regardless of how good they were. Once in hell, there's no coming out.
I think this position speaks more about God's followers (and their insanely selfish myopia) than your ancestors. An ideal can be judged by its adherents.

Hell means death of the soul in the old Hebrew we all will get the chance to learn in the day of the lord then we will again have the chance to accept or denied the one true lord the odd thing is the bible says even after the thousand years of teaching in the millennium Meany will still chose the devil.

Well, according to the Bible they are. But does your wife know for sure whether or not they didn't believe in Jesus Christ ?
Sometimes someone comes to witness to a person on their death beds or the person about to die makes a conscious decision to accept Christ-we may not know that.
I believe that the decision is between your wife's ancestors and GOD.

God is the final judge. If they never heard the gospel, He will judge them in a different way. Thankfully we don't have to worry about that because He is God. There is no way to redeem a dead person but God knows their hearts.
