Okay, my girlfriend and I have a 4 year old son. She's all black. Not even mixed with anything.
I'm white. But our son is all white just like me! We've been wondering ever since she gave birth to him?!? How did this happen?? He doesn't have a single trace of black in him. He has my hair, skin, EVERYTHING!
So what the **** happened here?
Haha they did DNA tests. And she's the real mom haha.

Who said your girlfriend is all black? Unless she came over from Africa directly it's very likely she is somewhat mixed. If that is the case she passed down the recessive genes attributed to light skin, straight hair etc. Don't be worried. If you did a DNA test and you are the parents just know that this is a product of genetics. The chances of you two having another white looking child are rare. Your son however is mixed and you're not the first parent to experience this type of cultural question. In the past there have been black families who have one child who looks completely like another race and vice versa. If your girlfriend and her family immigrated during the slave trade just know that the gene pool has been mixed and although it is rare, your son is completely normal. And, even better, when he's ready for college he can apply for scholarships based on this genetic rarity. Also, don't worry if as he gets older he starts to show attributes that you consider to be black. Reassure her that all is well, as it might be unsettling for her to have a son who looks so different from her. Take the time to teach your son about all the aspects of his heritage, as this will give greater meaning to his life and a better sense of self. Take care and good luck.

I am mexican/white and my first daughters father is black/japanese. Our daughter is very fair skinned as well. She does have the tight curly hair like her dad and black facial features as well but she is lighter skinned than both of us. She is a beautiful bi-racial little girl! We too had a DNA test done for child support purposes and we are definitely the parents. And I have another daughter with my husband who is all white and our little girl is as dark as I am. Children are a beautiful wonderful thing aren't they? Both my girls look just like their fathers. I guess my genes just weren't overpowering enough either. I am sure he is a beautiful boy and as he gets older her features may come out a little more in him...

It happens that way. My have an African American mother and father of mixed heritage and my brother has blond hair and blue/green eyes. That's the beauty of being a person of color!!! It's a mixed bag.

either the pigment in his skin has not totally formed yet (and as he gets older he will appear more "half n half"
or....
your genes are very dominant compaired to your wifes, and therefore he will always be light skinned. regardless what he looks like though, he is both part of you and her....it just may take some time for him to grow up and look more like her.

There are no 100% black people in America. They all have recessive genes. Your son just got all of them.

It happens. Just wait until he grows up and you'll start seeing more and more of her in him then of you, not necessary the way he looks, but the way he thinks, acts and so on...just wait and see he-s not you're clone :)
