Spirituality is as much a part of a balanced life as shelter, food, companionship, etc. Without it your life is incomplete. This does not mean you have to attend church every Sunday, but you should maintain a faith in spiritual matters. Prayer is common to all religions and faiths, and serves to clear the mind and allow communication with the spiritual world. Through prayer, instruction is received and learning is accomplished on a higher level than earthly teaching can provide. This is faith and spirituality, not religion. This is the true daily bread you refer to.

We should always be hungry for the word of God. When we don"t read the Bible, and don"t pray, we stray from the Lord. As a Christian, we should have the desire to read His word, and pray. To live our live close to God, we should read His word daily. It will help us to grow in the Lord.
