As I was taking my daughter to preschool today when I saw a man parked in the middle of the street stomping on something then kicking it into a ditch on the side of the road. I was stopped at a red light about a block away. He said something to someone in a car coming from the other direction, got in his truck and left. As I was driving by I thought I saw a little black puppy stand up then fall over in the ditch, I instanty felt sick to my stomach. I tried to get his license plate number but he was to far ahead. I took my daughter on to school, she is 4 and I didn't want her to see anything. When I arrived back at work I called the business that this happened in front of to let them know. I CANT GET THE IMAGE OUT OF MY HEAD!

To those of you who think I should have let my daughter witness that, thanks for making me feel worse!

Tell youself that what you think you saw wasn't really what you saw. Make up a different story about it. Each time you think about it, change the story a little. After a while you won't be sure what to believe and your results will be achieved.
Here, I'll get you started. Does it really make any sense that a man would be kicking and stomping a puppy? No way. That is absurd. He was driving and he spilled coffee and it got all over his legs and socks and shoes. He stopped by the side of the road and took off his soaked socks and shoes as quickly as he could. He threw the socks to the side of the road. The wind lifted the black sock up off the ground then it fell into the ditch. He continued on his way looking for a convenience store to buy another cup of coffee, driving barefoot.

Forget it and don't worry about it. Since you "thought" you seen this or that doesn't make it true. There is numerous things the man could have been doing. Perhaps it was sometype of container rolling on the road and he squashed it and kicked it in the ditch so it wouldn't be blown by into the road by the wind. Work on things you "know" that happens and forget the "thought" items. You have a good heart. If it really bothers you, go to the place and see what is there. That would be a beginning. Pops

Your kid could have been late for school this once. You should have followed the guy until you got his plate number. He commited a crime if it was a puppy and you were a witness.
After you called the buisness you should have called the police. You could have at least given a description of the man and the vehicle he was driving as well as the direction he went in.
Shame on you.
You did'nt care enough to stop so why dwell on it.Obviously you have more important things to worry about than a poor puppy you may have imagined.
Would you have minded your own buisness and kept going if that were a child?
Probably.
We really do need more people like you in the world.

Don't get this image out of your head. Animals need more people like you who are sickened and outraged by the cruelty that is inflicted on them by people.
Tell your story to anyone who will listen. If you know the location of this crime, call the police or your local animal rescue/shelter. Let them know. Give them the best description that you can.
Animals can't call 911, but we can. Maybe you can't save this puppy, but I bet with your heart, you can help save others.
If there is any chance that your daughter may have seen any of this, talk to her about it. If your daughter did not see this, I wouldn't tell her. But you can start at this early age, teaching her a respect for all animals.
Ask yourself -- "If this guy was stomping on and kicking a human, what would I do?"
I have 5 rescued dogs and as much as I would like to adopt all of those needing homes, I know I can't. But what I CAN do, is report any and all abuse that I see. And I DO.

Some people are just sick. I personally would have gone back, even if my daughter was with me, but that is just me. I would still call the police and try to give a description of this vile person and his truck.
As far as getting this image out of your head, I think it may take a while. Talk about a sh**ty start to a particularly sh**ty day 9/11. I hope tomorrow is better!

I am so sorry that such an unforgivable act had to occur in the first place.
If U have any pets, I think giving them extra love might help U in coping with this. Try to do something to help some other animal, perhaps so U R left with a good thot.
Time, time, time...heals.
Wot a Sick, sick peep this was!!!!!

What you saw is not a rare sight. This is going on everywhere. You will probably never let go of that image, and you may feel guilty for leaving the puppy there, I know I would have. Well actually i wouldnt, because I would have stopped my car straight away, challenged the man, and rescued the pup. But that's me, I would and have put my life in danger to rescue animals. Thats what I do.

Wow! That's atrocious. That poor little puppy. I hope someone has rescued it and taken it for treatment.
Sometimes those images are motivators to get us into action about animal abuse. Contact representatives in your legislature and see if you can support legislation to make stricter laws against such awful behavior, stiffen penalties and such.
So sorry you weren't able to get the man's license number. Sometimes I feel it's a shame that drawing and quartering is no longer done as punishment for such a total creep!

I'm so sorry that you had to witness that. I foster for a rescue group and almost daily I'm reminded of how evil and cruel people can be to animals. The only thing that helps me is knowing that there are good people out there. People willing to adopt and love the discarded pets of the world. Maybe you could get involved with one of your local rescue groups. They always need help.
