Chi makes good irons and they are easy to find. GHD also makes good ones, but they are more difficult to find in stores. Look for one with ceramic plates and blunt (not rounded) edges to the plates.

You can buy any starightner in the world and it wont help you at all if you are not using the right styling aids to go with them. May I suggest if you have access to a professional salon. Paul Mitchel's Super Skinny line. They give you a shampoo./conditioner/ and a serum.
These products in combination remove excess moisture from the hair shaft which helps the hair dry faster/smoother and without as much damage. IT does not however remove the essential moisture and oils from your hair which people with curly hair need the most. The best iron to get is the CHI. They come in multiple sizes and are in the 100-270.00 range. They are steep but are well worth the investment. CHI has also introduced a blowdryer that is the bestest thing ever. it ranges around 150.00 also. These are all professional stlying products and you will probably have to get them through your stylist but they are built to withstand alot of use and abuse.
Go professional, its the only way to go!

Yeah I like the ceramic ones the best, some hair salons sell them and they usually work really well... they are pretty expensive for the nice ones.

ceramic straighteners work best and are better for your hair than others that are metal, etc. Almost any brand will work, i recommend amazon.com and then find one, but make sure the item is sold to you DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON not from other people selling it there, like ebay, that's when you can't trust them, but the products sold directly from amazon are new

use a straighner that gives out little heat, if it givesout a lot of heat it will burn all your hair off. it happen to my friend, it took her 2 mounths to grow all her hair back.
