Head of household -- ie. someone who supports a spouse and/or child -- is exempt from wage garnishment in Fla. Non-head has the same limitations for consumer judgments as under Federal law. All of OJ' s assets are in his home or exempt retirement funds. Income from retirement funds and Annuity income is also exempt.

OJ has absolutely no income to be garnished! His 401K and the investment income for the 401K are exempt. And his homestead exemption of a million bucks keeps his home out of the reach of creditors! So for the rest of his life, he will not be working unless ofcourse, he decides to get a $10 a hour job where he is paid under the table!

MLaw gave you a terrific answer. It doesn't seem just, but some states like Florida & Texas are practically debtor havens.

Mlaw and Dale are right, Florida is a very debtor friendly state.

Good question. I guess the answer is the same as to How did he get away with murder? If it were you or I, just ordinary Joe's you can bet we would be in jail or would be totally broke!!!!
