When they come up with ideas or think of something as being morally right or wrong could it be that they are just thinking these things for themselves but mistaking it for the voice of god speaking through them?

I've seen a few research studies done asking this very question. The preliminary data was positive but the data were never reported through proper channels, so take this with a huge grain of salt.

Poorly reported science can be worse than no science at all.

The "internal monologue" doesn't account for answered prayers. Not all of us were Christians from birth. The voice of God we experience wasn't there prior to our belief.

Your arugment kind of implies that morality is an independent thing. My right and wrong is different than someone else's? I'm not talking about the gray area moral issues: abortion, homosexuality. I'm talking about murder, adultery, stealing.

This is hard to tell. "Young" Christians have trouble with the internal monologue, as it can be God, Satan, or the person himself. They have to learn to check it with scripture and with "older" Christians.

I have found that if a certain peace or "settling" comes with the thought, it is of God. But I still check it out sometimes.

For some yes, but there are those who truly hear God, because even human ideas will fail when they seem to be by chance thoughts. But some people hear God and follow through on plans that work, but for them to happen by chance would be illogical to claim them as personal thoughts.

No, I know God doesn't speak to me. Morals are common sense.

no, I don't think so. One time I think He got me real good. Almost so loud I could hear it. I was having a temper tantrum and juding and running down someone that made me very angry. He let me know real quick I wasn't any better, in fact I was the same as her. I sure didn't talk myself into that because i was in a rage, wanted to pull out her hair. I didn't imagine it, I heard Him as plain as if He was standing beside me. I'm not nuts either or a fanatic.

"I could really go for a sandwich right about now"
'Gasp! The word of god, I shall dedicate my life to sandwich making!"

Usually when people listen to the voices in their heads we lock them up.

A lot of people do. However, the wiser ones turn to the Bible as the rock in their life. If you need examples that demonstrate that the Bible was penned by man but written by God, feel free to email me.

No. God gave us a conscious & mind unlike other animals.
some people may say God told them this and that but God works in many ways and we are all somewhat decieved, but God's way is apparent whether you believe in God or not.
