Hi there!
Without a doubt it is too eat small meals during the day. I typically tell my female clients to eat 5 meals during the day of about 300 calories each, thus, staying below 1500 for the day. When they do this and stick to it, they lose weight.
The frequency of meals gives better energy to the muscles and causes less blood pooling around the stomach, which keeps your metabolism high. So yes, your metabolism works better if you eat many times a day.
HOWEVER, it is the total calories per day that really governs weight loss. Stay below 1500 and you should see progress. If you eat five meals of about 800 calories each, you will gain weight, so be sure to count the calories as well as keeping the meals small and frequent.
I believe this answers your question, but if not, you may email me.
Good luck on your diet and fitness goals!

First before ANY diet, get a checkup by a doctor. Then if you get the OK,you can eat six SMALL meals per day to keep your metabolism up. Your body thinks your not going to feed it,so it uses up the stored fat. If you eat two big meals, then you're just piling on the calories.

It is supposed to be best to eat 3 small meals and 2 snacks per day. This will keep your metabolism going and you won't get low blood sugar and want to fall asleep once 2 or 3pm rolls around. It will ensure that your body stays fueled throughout the entire day so that you can workout and go on with your day with lots of energy.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Never skimp on that one even if you eat only cereal and milk. Eat that well with a lot of fibre, example, wheat bran or oat cereal and your appetite automatically reduces for the rest of the day. You won't want too many more meals after that! If your meal are balanced, your appetite automatically reduces because your body does not crave nutirents in which it might be deficient.

it is healthier to eat more small meals per day, but be sure to watch your calories. if you eat fast food and junk foods for sure you'll gain. try to keep your caloric intake under 1200 for the first few weeks with a good exercise routine and you should start to see the weight come off. there are some good calorie counters free on the web.

eating smaller meals burns better like fuel. your body continues to burn that off better than big meals. a big meal will take its time smaller meals is better on your digestive system. taking in the right amount of calories throughout the day as well as moderate exercise. it gives your body something to work with. it is just plain more healthier for you to eat smaller quantities so you dont store so much unwanted fat and calories
