This is how it works:
you think you really know what you want in a person then,
when you find someone, somehow you start to see more and more the qualities that you were seeking then,
the things you thought you would never take from someone or let someone do to you become somehow bearable because you find yourself in love with that person you just don't realize that he isn't perfect until your eyes are open enough and that only happens after a couple of years of deception

I know i did. I was only after tall sexy men, then bam i met and fell in love with my bf who is only an inch or two taller than me and is not likely to be found on the cover of any romance novel, but he's my everything and i wouldn't trade him for a dozen sexy fireman calender men.

We fall in love with people who have both the good and bad qualities of our parents. And then we expect the person to "resuce" us from what we didn't get in our childhoods.
Then it's disillusionment time.
Then comes the breakup.
