I found a way where I get a list of programs on the start-up list and can deselect a program, but the deselected program ramains on the start-up list and is not removed. The start-up is also now longer and I get a message that I have an unnatural start-up. I want to remove the program from the list without deleting the program from my computer.

There are a couple of ways that programmers make their programs run when your computer first comes up.

The first and easiest thing to check is to see if the application has an option that allows the application to starts when you start Windows.

The next place to check is under the Start Menu > Programs > Startup. Any program listed here will start with Windows.

The last thing to try is going to Start > Run > and type in msconfig which will bring up the System Configuration Utility. There is a tab for startup where you can uncheck the startup items that you recognize and don't want to start up when Windows starts.

Good luck!
