I have no idea. Maybe they're obsessive compulsive and HAVE to hand out pamphlets or their brain will short circuit.

No, they believe a chosen number 144,000 out of all of the Jehovah's Witnesses will get to go to heaven and become angels. All of the other JWs will remain on the earth that will be a paradise. I believe that the original number of JW's in the early 1900's were figured to be 144,000, and they made a prophecy that at that point the system of things would end and Jesus would create the paradise. When that didn't happen they were screwed.
People nowadays that are supposed to be part of those to go to heaven drink wine and eat leven bread during the passover, Jesuses death. I always asked my mom how these people knew they were choses. She just said, 'They just know'. We always thought that we and other recuited members would be on the paradise earth when the time came. I used to actually want this more than to go to heaven, less responsibilty. Lol.
I call myself an agnostic-atheist thesedays, but I educated myself on all of the mistakes in the JW religion. I forgot a lot by my mom has all of the old books and literature from them.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe 144,00 anointed people will go to heaven. Rev 14:1-3
The remainder, the "great crowd" have an earthly hope. That is, we will live on a paradise earth, the way Jehovah intended.
We go door to door, in imitation of Christ, to educate others about our hope and our beliefs. Matt 24:14

Because those that are left out of that number actually believe they will remain here on earth, growing to perfection, working to actually fix the earth.
They don't believe that only 144,000 are the only people to be rewarded for their faith in God.
" There are other sheep, not of this fold" - Jesus said this himself. They have an earthly hope. The hope of being able to live forever in a perfect world under the rule of Jesus Christ. Yes, Jesus Christ.
Its not about upping the numbers, going door to door is about reaching people who have a genuine interest. Honest-hearted individuals who have a desire to come to know God, know about his ways, and have a desire to gain everlasting life.
Oh - and the part of the bible that says 'There are a new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, And in these righteousness is to dwell' , is one that we read on a frequent basis as it has to do with our hope of living here on earth.
I have been a Witness for 22 years. If you have honest questions are aren't simply interested in seeing people argue, then feel free to contact me. I am more interested in giving out the correct information than I am 'recruiting', which is what it is about. Simply coming to an accurate knowledge of the bible.

Jehovah's Witnesses understand the Scriptures to teach that exactly 144,000 humans will join Christ Jesus as kings and priests to administer God's Kingdom (which will soon replace all earthly governments) after Armageddon.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
(Revelation 14:1) Lamb [Jesus] standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand
(Revelation 20:6) they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him
Over whom will they rule? Over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire
Almighty Jehovah God selects those few who have the heavenly calling from among godfearing worshippers, including many who were never Jehovah's Witnesses. Today, each true worshipper "feels" his own hope and each person's hope remains unquestioned by his fellow Christians. Still the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%*) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]
Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

just to function to invoice's remark....Acts 2:32-35 tells how even dedicated King David did "not" ascend to heaven yet that Jesus became raised to heavenly life. people who died formerly Jesus ascended to heaven will stay right here on the restored earth as earthly matters of God's heavenly government. A constrained selection are chosen to circulate to heaven via fact they have the possibility to be co-rulers with Jesus. the government of united statesa. has a president, vice-president and cupboard contributors etc. God's government additionally has a similiar shape. Jehovah God being as president, Jesus our King being as vice-president and those chosen from the earth as co-rulers via actuality that they terrific qualify for the placement.

Ask one, otherwise, it's because they believe that 144,000 go to heaven to be kings and priests with Jesus while the rest of the faithful live forever in the paradise Earth that Jehovah originally purposed for mankind when He created Adam and Eve.

They refer to the scripture in their bible which says, "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations..." They feel that they are supposed to witness to any and all they come in contact with who have not come to know Jehovah. Where they came up with the number 144k, I don't know, it's just another one of those religious beliefs that once it's started by the founder, everyone who joins the religion believes it and does not dare question it. It is silly to me, a lot of their beliefs are. I don't agree with them but it's okay to seek out people and teach them bible truths but not force it on them.

They never read the part where it says their will be new heaven and earth and they don't approve of Jesus so they push that aside because they do not believe in why the Father send His one and only Son in this world

No one of that cult will enter Heaven if all they know is the man invented teaching of the cult. It is a satan inspired deception to keep as many as possable from coming to God in The Way He proscribes and receiving His free gift of Salvation.
