Needless to say I am all for Halloween .. my oldest son birthday is in October so typically we throw Haunted Halloween Birthday Party themes, haunted house, etc. Halloween night we take him trick or treating and actually try to hit as many houses as possible to get the most treats. Its a all night adventure but we always have a lot of fun.
Hugs from a Loving Mom to a Brilliant, as well as beautiful 8 year old Jared and Our Angel, Zachary (taken to soon but who will always remain in our heart) ~ Mel

yes, and a good/safer alternative to trick or treating is trunk or treating. Here, all your friends get together at a location, and the kids trick or treat from car to car, like a tailgate party. This way, you get to see everyone's costume, you know everyone involved, and everyone gets to participate (one parent doesn't have to stay home while the other takes the kid trick or treating). It is also a lot of fun because the parents can talk to each other, too, and maybe even make new friends.

I have lots of great memories of trick & treating! I would have felt really cheated if I couldn't have gone. If you want you could do other things tho. Many communities have super parties for the kids. Some parents just take the kids to a few houses in the neigborhood, or around in the car to see the special people in their lives. It was always a big night for my kids. First, we always had pizza brought in early. Then when they were older, they would run around with a few friends and come home loaded with loot. One thing, don't let kids wear masks cuz it 's hard to see properly.

I do allow my children to go trick or treating but they are 8 & 10 now. But my friend use to throw an excellent halloween party at her house and invite all the kids she new round there. She would decorate the house with bats and have food out with funny names like the pickles would be called devils eye balls and stuff like that. They loved it.

we go trick or treating in the really nice neighborhoods or the streets where we know a lot of people. We did the thing at the mall once, but that was too many people. Alot of churches have Trunk or treat, where members of the church decorate cars and the kids go around the parking lot., usually starting out with a fall fesitval.

I go with my child trick-or-treating. The town where I grew up had businesses around something like a town square. At Halloween, the businesses would pass out candy to the children and adults who went around. We trusted the businesses and most stuff was packaged well.

Some families do not allow their kids to go trick or treating because they believe it is Satan's holiday, it is not his holiday and really has nothing to do with him. I always ask why don't you let your kids dress as religious figures and promote your religion during Halloween. For the kids it is nothing except a night for free candy, dressing up, and having fun. Sometimes we try to put adult thinking on a kids event and it ruins it for them.
Most communities have alternate parties somewhere. You could contact city hall and see what they are offering. Or just have your own party and let the kids have fun there.
To me, Halloween is for the kids. Let them have their fun.

Why not...? It's a fun time that allows kids to enjoy dressing up and getting candy and scary, autumn-y activitis that the whole family can enjoy. Let them be kids and have a blast on this great holiday! No one said you had to let them go trick or treating by themselves so if you're nervous that something might happen to them, go with them and enjoy yourself too! It would be wrong being in a safe community and letting your children grow up without celebrating this holiday.

Well sometimes the community has like a get together at a community center or even a school, where I came from they had things like that going on. Aside from that some ymca's do things and churches..it really all depends...my mom wouldn't let us go trick or treating because she said it was the devils holiday so she just bought us candy...but I will let my kids go.

I don't have kids and when growing up we lived in good neighborhoods so didn't have this problem. But to answer your question alot of churches have halloween parties and local malls have trick or treating.
