I don't recognize that quote, but perhaps you mean this one:

Yours sounds like a paraphrase of Fitzgerald. It's one of my favorite quotes, as it nails the central problem behind much of today's political discourse -- few people are willing to even entertain the notions of the other side, so their ideas tend to be unspeakably simple. (Most people would be subconsciously indicting either the Right or the Left with these comments, but I'm applying it to both. I've worked in national security, business, academia, and the media, so I tend to be surrounded by varying extremes. I see the same problems in all four arenas, just with different flavoring.)

Wow I remember that it was a scientist I believe. Or was it an author? I do remember that quote though I collected it in one of m quotation books. I wish that I had that on me now.
