I don't know about "the church" but my church is not. It is too busy helping those in need, helping a family with a child with cancer, helping bury those whose families can't afford to bury their dead loved ones and helping those whose homes were destroyed by Hurricane Rita to get wealthy.

Not just the RCC but the all xian churches. Every church asks for a tithe, no church ever pays a penny in taxes, they never do anything for the community, they are run by slime bags who trick gullible people into giving their money to them. Look at TBN, Daystar, the RCC, Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, TD Jakes, the list of robbers and thieves goes on and on. They should be like Jeebus and give all that $ to the poor. That's what makes atheists good, they give directly to the poor and downtrodden instead of to the pastor so he can make another boat payment.

Did you know that the "church" is not a company?

The church is not all churches, since they work toward different ministries. some churches are massive in size and attendance, so they have a bounty of ministries with great results.

The struggling churches hang on with god's help in reaching out to save others. Monies from collections do not get split up by the church ushers or staff. Instead, they are going to support the ministries(schooling, poor, homeless, missions, etc) or wherever the money is requested to be directed by the donor (i.e. Please direct my donation to the building fund, education fund, needy families, etc)

I hope this clarifies things...

That is a lie. The Catholic Church is not a profitable organization as all monies are spent on Church upkeep and charity. The budget of Vatican City is smaller than most State budgets in the USA.

ALL CHURCHES, not just the RCC, take advantage of people by using the guilt factor. Maybe I don't give 10% of all of my money to a church, but I give to charities each year that actually give my money to a worthy cause. I can be completely sure that I am making a difference and I'm doing something right and good, not just benefiting myself. That gives me enough of a spiritual benefit than being driven by fear to give up my money. Some churches might give to some good causes, but people fail to see a church as an institution, or "a company" as you say. They may not take it by physical force, but I think guilt is a pretty powerful force that makes people weak and willing to give up the cash. Overall, this is a good point you make.

Indeed. It's been around for 2000 years. What else would it be?

Not everything about the Catholic Church is correct. Not by a long shot. But, everything else fell AWAY from it. So how much MORE wrong must they BE?

And as for the Reformation, Martin Luther considered himself a good Catholic til his dying day.

And Catholics are the ORIGINAL Christians. Anyone saying otherwise, has not delved into their OWN faith.

The RCC is not a company. They are the wealthiest because of art, land and building ownership which has been accumulated during the last 2000 years. So what? What's your point. Many governments are wealthier.

I can't confirm that but what do they do with all that wealth? Do you think they just store it all away for themselves or do they donate to charities?

I don't understand why people think the Church collecting money is a inherently bad thing. The church needs money to keep up the organization. That's like saying that the Red Cross is evil for asking for donations. You can simply think of the Church as the largest non-profit charitable organization.

No it's walmarts. Even large church origanization like the Roman Catholic, founder of protestants, and Islam do not own all of their property insstead it often is owned by local branches of the church who are independent of the mother church in it's holdings.
The supreme court has upheld that local branches were built by local donations and belong to the locals.

Which church? Not all churches are pulling in the big bucks. Some are struggling to stay afloat.
